My name is Libby. I am Virginia’s cousin and darling Pippa’s Godmother. Over the years Gin and I have shared many wonderful times and helped each other through some difficult situations. She is like a sister to me and Pippa; another daughter. I have William and Claudia, who adore their ‘cousins’ – the lovely James, Patrick and Pippa.
I have the complete and utter privilege to be part of the journey that this beautiful family have embarked upon. I have been in family meetings, Dr’s appointments, social worker appointments, Ronald McDonald House, MRI machines, at Peter Mac, in hospital rooms, cafeterias, and the list goes on…
In the midst of all of the chaos, quiet, sadness, laughter, confusion and love is the most incredible person I know. Virginia Rea. She has taken on the most difficult task any mother has had to face with grace and beauty. Her children come first and foremost. Her explanations are delivered with patience and kindness. Pippa is handled with love, care and most importantly, respect.
All of Virginia’s decisions are made with attention to detail, thought and consideration for others. Her openness and generosity of spirit and genuine care of other people is extraordinary. She has fought many battles on her own and won; the biggest to date being the wonderful parent she is.
I ask all of her friends, her family and anyone reading this to please take some time out of your day to raise a glass to this amazing, resilient, beautiful woman. She will fight this battle along side of Pippa, with strength, dignity, wisdom and love and she won’t stop until she gets the result she wants.
